The Mobile Science Bench (MSB) has been designed by science teachers for Secondary and Tertiary school science teaching and learning. It is a self-contained mobile science laboratory enabling the teaching of science in any classroom within your school or institution. The MSB provides an ideal flexible laboratory facility for ¡®wheel in¡¯ lectures and demonstrations and as a temporary laboratory facility when schools are undergoing re-development and change. The bench is designed for Secondary students providing the correct working height and the width allows easy access through standard doorways. The Mobile Science Bench is fitted with a laboratory-standard Trespa Athlon bench top with curved inset for ease of use. This material has excellent impact, scratch, heat, acid and chemical resistance. The MSB is fitted with two pull out bench top extensions to maximise the useable workspace. A mains power lead with multi socket outlet allows several devices e.g. computer, to be plugged in. A low voltage supply, with switchable 2 ¨C 12 Volts, acts as a standard power supply. It has standard 4mm lead sockets with DC output. Gas is available via a double gas tap supplied through a standard 3.5/4.5 kg Propane/Butane cylinder and regulator. Note: institutions must supply their own gas cylinder and regulator because of Health & Safety legislation and the need for the initial cylinder deposit. Water from a standard laboratory tap and Vulcathene sink is supplied via a clean water tank with a similar waste tank. These will require filling and emptying dependant on frequency of use. A secure computer shelf allows a desk top PC or laptop to located/stored within the MSB. Cable slots provide easy access for cables between computer and monitor. A monitor arm is fitted as standard unless not requested. Two screw sockets allow standard retort rods to be securely located on the bench surface. Ample storage is provided via a range of Gratnells trays. The Bench runs on six castors of which two are lockable to enable secure positioning when in a working or storage situation.
