Detecting the minute vibrations caused by earthquakes that happened thousands of kilometres away with a simple piece of equipment sitting in your very own school creates a ‘wow’ moment for students (and sometimes staff as well). The SEP Seismometer System was developed in collaboration with the British Geological Survey, and during its initial trials in schools proved to be very successful in recording earthquakes ¨C including the Kent earthquake in May 2007.
